The Lord of the Forest. The giant Kauri tree has the largest girth of any tree in the world. You will gasp when you see it. We can arrange a car and driver to take you or you can drive your own car to Omapere in the Hokianga Harbour where you will connect with a local Maori guide from ‘Footprints’ who will take you into the Waipoua forest for a private tour. There is no better way to see this Kauri Tree which is over 2000 years old.
Whilst you are in the Hokianga why not add a harbour crossing and a dune buggy tour of the unique sand sculptures and dunes of the North Hokianga Harbour. (Maximum for the dune buggy tour is 3 persons, allow an additional 2 hours)
