Flexible Dining

Queenstown abounds in fabulous restaurants, and many guests enjoy the opportunity to explore what is on offer in our dynamic local dining scene.

Matakauri offers a “flexible” dining option, well suited to longer staying guests and the curious culinarian! Our savvy team of insiders have curated their pick of the dining experiences they love most. These are the spots where we have secured a limited number of tables over the busy summer months.

Guests may choose this option for one or more nights of their stay. Begin with a pre-dinner drink and canapes at the lodge, before being driven to Queenstown.  The lodge will  provide a voucher for transport back, allowing you to return in your own time.  The cost of these meals is included within the Matakauri Lodge tariff, with the only extra charges being for selected beverages/wines, and optional gratuities.

Opportunities for these popular tables are limited, and advance bookings are encouraged to take advantage of these Queenstown experiences. It’s a great way to truly make the most of a Queenstown summer adventure!

Flexible dining is subject to availability and change.

Boardwalk

Perched above Steamer Wharf in one of Queenstown’s most iconic locations – Boardwalk is a contemporary favourite.  Showcasing wonderful seafood, select meats and lovingly prepared local ingredients, it is a wonderful example of modern New Zealand cuisine

We love Boardwalk... for fresh and bright interiors with glimpses of the lake and mountains, this is something of a hidden gem in Queenstown. Clean and light modern cookery, great local flavours and a fabulous wine list.  Caviar and cocktails, steak and oysters, it's a contemporary classic!

Rātā

A modern, light filled urban eatery in the heart of town, bustling and energetic.  An inventive and well balanced menu gives you the chance to explore some local treasures and indulge in regional favourites.  Modern flavours and a commitment to artisanal suppliers create a menu that is ‘of New Zealand’.

We love Rātā... for their take on a Southland Cheese Roll – it's a must try in our opinion.

A pre dinner cocktail at the bar allows a peek into the kitchen in full flow.

Jervois Steak House

A classic steak house interior, leather booths, exposed brick and dark timbers put you in the mood to browse the best cuts and a well crafted wine list.  Balanced by outstanding seafood options, Jervois celebrates a love of meat and is a fine example of the genre.

We love JSH... for a pre dinner Negroni or Old Fashioned, followed by Red King Crab and Queenstown’s best fries.  You’re just a well matched shiraz from heaven! And that’s before you settle on a steak.
