On March 6 2003 Shell's Wonderful World of Golf hosted a match play golf event between Fred Couples and Michael Campbell at Kauri Cliffs, Matauri Bay, New Zealand.

Over 1,000 people poured onto the property to watch Fred Couples and Michael Campbell play, with Jack Whittaker providing colour commentary from the sidelines. After some exciting moments - including Campbell's miraculous eagle on the 10th hole - Couples prevailed and won the match 72-74. Fred Couples, who had never been to New Zealand, was smitten with the course- and the Lodge. "It doesn't get any better than this" said Couples.

Jack Whittaker was equally impressed. "Surely Kauri Cliffs must have been on the short list to become the Garden of Eden.....Mother Nature had a free hand in creation and went way over budget."
